November is a great time to plant tomatoes, the weather is warmer and most cold snaps are gone. Beef steak tomatoes are one of my favorites they are big and juicy and great for frying with bacon and eggs and because of their size one slice covers a whole piece of bread or hamburger bun, yum, my other favorite is the cherry tomato great to pop whole in your children’s lunch box or sliced up and put into any salad you chose to enjoy on these longer spring evenings
Did you know that the latest gossip is that 4 cups of cooked tomatoes’ per week helps prevent cancer - I’ll certainly be increasing my in take of them
Companion Plant: The best companion plant for tomatoes is
Basil whether it be Basil Dark Opal, Basil Genovese or Basil Mini Greek. Plant by your tomatoes to make your tomatoes
taste sweeter and deter insects like White fly, Aphids and Fruit Fly
Did you know that brewing a tea out of basil leaves can help get rid of headaches, and a cuppa before you go to bed can help with restlessness. It also helps nursing mothers increase their milk flow which has got to be a great thing - 10 to 15 leaves crushed then put in a teapot, pour over boiling water and let it rest, strain through sieve and pour into cup
